Life is meant to be lived by some rules and principles that one can take from others or create their own. The best principles are the ones that a person or a couple creates themselves. Liane and Brian, a very sweet couple, had their own motto that they lived by: “Life is short, eat desert first!” This saying is very meaningful to them. Liane is a big lover of sweets and deserts. She could basically live off sweets and cookies for days. Brian knew that and had a great idea for the proposal. They had a favourite ice cream store that they went to almost every week. Brian, for the proposal, went down on one knee in that same ice cream store. It was a big surprise for Liane who was not expecting it to happen at their favourite spot! To make this moment even more meaningful, that ice cream store created a special flavour for the couple called: “marry me”. And thus their motto: “Life is short, eat the desert first!” made even more sense to them both and created a much deeper meaning.
Their wedding and reception were held all in one place, which made the moment very memorable for them and their families and friends. The venue was Le Ballroom at the Chevra Kadisha-B’nai Jacob, a very private place with its own traditional ambiance and décor. The Ballroom was transformed into a gorgeous setting that looked as if from a royal reception. The lightening, that illuminated the tables with shades of calm blue and sweet pink, made all the difference. Chandeliers decorated with enormous diamond-looking stones reflecting the sweet pink light strokes made the whole set appear to be bathing in a warm sunset. Liane and Brain placed their casual session photography on the tables of the guests, as numbers. Everyone was able to enjoy their union with the stunning wedding pictures and the lovely casual session photography.
Their guise had also a lot of emotional value. Liane was wearing a resplendent pearl necklace. This necklace was her grandmother’s and was very sentimental and important to Liane. At the same time, the “hanger” upon which the bride’s dress hung, was made by Liane’s second grandmother. It was made by hand and was very deep-rooted in their family. At the same time, Brian also had a very significant piece. He wrote the Tallit, a prayer shawl, which belonged to his grandfather. Their whole ceremony was very sentimental and significant to Liane and Brian and their families alike.
On the wedding day, Liane and Brian decided to have a little ceremony of gift exchange. They exchanged small funny gifts such as bubbles, yo-yo’s and witty looking flowers on twigs. Yet the best and most outrageous gift was from Liane to Brian. She gave him a pair of socks. It may appear to be a simple gift, yet the reason behind it was very amusing. Liane said that she gave him those socks so that he “doesn’t get cold feet”. It was very enjoyable to watch and everyone had great laughs.
For their couple together session, we traveled to the green house in the beautiful Westmount Park. There, we were able to take amazing pictures of Liane and Brian together and in love. Pictures hding the couple between the summer flowers and stealing sly moments of tender love in the reflections of windows made the whole day beautiful and unforgettable. At the end of the session, we were caught in a torrent rain. We thought that this might upset the couple that were enjoying their big day, yet it was a good sign for them. They told us that is it a good omen and good luck when it rains on a wedding day. It means that the marriage will be long and happy.
